To bring unhappiness upon another being for one's own happiness is frowned upon in the eyes of others.
To bring unhappiness upon thyself for the happiness of another being is frowned upon in one's own eyes.

Which scenario wins?

We will all ultimately fail at making every aspect of life beautiful. We eliminate the bad, encourage the good, and we are content. Personal beliefs and outside influences have somehow balanced out one another. We are happy, others are unhappy with us. We strive to make those others happy once again, and we become *discontent.

There never seems to be some kind of compromise in a difficult situation. One or the other. Left or right. Yes or no. There is no maybe, perhaps, possibly, or perchance. Life throws us decisions that appear as impossibilities. We are commonly faced with daily decisions that could impact the rest of our lives.

Depression: A condition of general emotional dejection and withdrawal; sadness greater and more prolonged than that warranted by any objective reason.

Clinical depression
is a real disease, you know.

It may look like self sacrificing for others is just as bad as the alternative, but in the end you're better off. Weird, huh?

I don't think "in-content" is in any dictionary, but discontent is.

Self-sacrifice does seem to be a preferable choice. Otherwise... it just seems selfish.
